Gene Timpany Naked Raku Hands-On Workshop

Workshop Overview
The term 'naked raku' refers to a specialized technique that captures carbon within the hot clay surface, resulting in distinctive black and white crackle patterns. This technique produces pottery with a subtle yet bold effect, creating striking pieces that emit a radiant glow when polished. In this workshop, we will explore the two-step technique involving resist slip and glaze application.

During the first weekend, our focus will be on creating, trimming, and polishing our pots. These pots will then undergo bisque-firing, ensuring they are ready for the second weekend when we will fire them in the Raku kiln outdoors. Throughout the process, we will discuss the optimal forms and surface treatments to achieve your desired results.

Participating in this course promises an enjoyable experience for everyone, with the opportunity to achieve some impressive outcomes in their creations
