Gene Timpany Sagger Fired  

Saggar Firing was first used by the Chinese to keep wood ash off of their beautiful celadon glazed pottery when firing with a wood burning kiln. Now we use these same saggars in reverse, in that the pottery is placed inside the saggars containing combustible materials to color its surface. The results of each firing are different, and like raku, there are no two pieces of saggar pottery alike.

 

This workshop will be a firing only hands on experience. Each participant can expect to fire 2 – 3 pots. Bisqued pots required to be made prior to the workshop. More details when you register.

Ensure that when you are making your pieces that you use a smooth clay, not raku clay.

Workshop Registration Policies

Workshop Cancellation

If the Donn Zver School of Pottery decides on a formal workshop cancellation for any reason, registered students and guests will receive a full refund.

Attendance

Attending the workshop is the responsibility of the registrant. No refunds or credits are issued for missing the event.


Registrant Withdrawal Requests
  • No refunds or credits will be granted for registrant withdrawal requests made during the workshop (after the start date).
  • Registrant withdrawal requests made in advance of two (2) weeks prior to workshop start date are eligible for a full refund or credit.
  • Registrant withdrawal requests made within two (2) weeks or less of the workshop start date are eligible for a refund or credit less a 20% administration fee.
Inclement Weather Conditions

In the event of inclement weather, the Donn Zver School of Pottery will make a decision whether to cancel workshop or not. If a workshop cancellation is issued, the School will make very effort to reschedule the class.

Inclement weather closures will be posted on the home page of the School of Pottery website or students will receive an email notification.
