2023 Fall Sessions

*Beginner/Intermediate* Sculpting A Human Form Class on Sunday AFTERNOONS

Workshop Overview

This class is intended for someone that is at a beginner or intermediate level experience.

Utilizing a live model remains the best method to hone your sculpting skills. The class along with the model will choose a pose. We will show how to take a few measurements directly from the model and scale those measurements down to our figure size of 16 inches. We will each build our armatures and backbone stands.

Utilizing our armature, we will then use the box and egg method along with use planes and contours to continue to build upon the figure. During the course we will discuss important bony landmarks of the body, the important curves that make up a human body and discuss construction of head, feet and hands at this size.

The medium will be Chavant clay which is soft and malleable but oil based so it will not require care to store as wet clay would require. Oil base clay can stay and hold its form for years. This figure once completed would need to be molded if you want a permanent reproduction in plaster, wax or resin.

Clay will be included.
